It never ceases to amaze me just how much detail you can get in a paper sculpture. It blows my mind. Look at the level of detail on this papercrafted Skyrim frost dragon sculpture. It’s just amazing.

It was made by DeviantArtist DaiShiHUN who must be a level 10 Paper Mage. For this project he experimented with new textures and created a more stable base for it, which is a ruined Word Wall. This thing stands about 45 cm (~17 in) tall. He made it more sturdy by filling it with expanding foam.

Well, it looks pretty amazing. This makes me want to dust off my copy of Skyrim and play it again.

Ever wondered how much money in video games and science fiction movies would be worth in our world? Well, thanks to the Intergalactic Exchange Bureau, you can now convert between a number of fictitious currencies.

Developed as a promotional stunt by Money in Advance, the Intergalactic Exchange Bureau can convert currencies from Star Wars, Star Trek, Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire and a couple of others. Whether you’re paying in Gold dragons, Septims, Creds, or Galactic Credits, you’re covered. Though don’t try and pay in Rupees. They don’t take Rupees.

Of course, they didn’t have actual exchange rates to work from, and they came up with their own estimates based on their independent assessment of the value of objects in the various fictional universes. That said, real-world currency relationships were based on actual market values. Though what the price of frozen concentrated orange juice in New York has to do with the price of lightsabers in the Dagobah system, I don’t know.

How do you stand out from the crowd so that prospective employers notice you? Well, there are lots of ways, but it is best to somehow show the quality of your work in an eye-catching way. Wow them. That’s what Alexander J. Velicky did. He created 25 extra hours of Skyrim.

The 19-year-old Velicky loves Bethesda and would love to work for them, so he spent 2,000 hours creating a mod called “Falskaar” that adds 25 hours of gameplay to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. He created a land mass a third as big as the original map, which is pretty massive. He used 29 voice actors to record new dialog for his NPCs, and recruited over a 100 total people to help him with Falskaar. Now, he waits for a job.

“The best way to show Bethesda Game Studios that I want a job there and should be hired is to create content that meets the standards of their incredible development team,” he says.

I applaud his tactics and his enthusiasm.

We’ve featured a variety of awesome fan made replicas of weapons and armor from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. But not everyone’s as skilled or patient as those Cosplayborn. That’s where the specialty shop Folkenstal comes in. The shop is devoted to making and selling replicas of items from the RPG. Hey hey hey put that bucket down. The shop is online only. Get a virtual bucket.

On The Level Gaming got its hands on images of some of the shop’s wares. There are helmets, daggers, a bow and various pieces of armor. What? Yes I’ve played Skyrim! Why, that’s the Dagger of Daggering right there!

Head to Folkenstal to order these items. I’m not sure if they’ve been already bought, but some of the armor featured here are not on the shop as of this writing. I wonder if you’ll get a discount on the other items if you get the Amulet of Zenithar first. Yeah! Inside joke! Thanks Google!

I just want to stare all day at this amazing Skyrim Nord bow. It looks so authentic and beautiful. According to the maker it isn’t functional yet, but that shouldn’t be too difficult. Once it actually shoots, it will take your your knee clean off. Then you can complain about it forever.

It was created by “propmaker, artist, costumer, and all around fan of gaming, sci-fi, and miscellany” Carmen from Fev Studios. Carmen, you have some mad skills, but I gotta say…”You’ll shoot your eye out kid!” Just saying. Be careful. That thing looks deadly. Deadly awesome.

This bow is about 52″ long. Carmen is a true weaponsmith with a skill level that you can’t even put a number on. Seriously, she’s leveling up all the time. I’m fairly scared of her, seeing her handle this weapon. That armor is pretty sweet too.

When my son was really small he loved trains and watched Thomas the Tank Engine a lot. He loved the oddly animated train and his pals. I always found Thomas more than a bit creepy. If you ever thought that Thomas might be plotting to kill and take over the world, then I have the Skyrim mod for you.

It’s called the Really Useful Dragons mod and it turns every dragon on the game into Thomas the Tank Engine. The roars of the dragons are even replaced with Thomas’ shrill whistle. That toot-toot will haunt your dreams. Here, check it out:

I love the first time you see Thomas in the video. He swoops in and lands atop the tower with dust puffing out. I think he was meant to burn cities and capture souls, what about you? You can fast forward to about 2:00 in the video to bypass the wait and see Thomas the Terror for yourself.

Redditor bacongrease00′s wife made this tome of bread and icing. It bears the cover of The Book of the Dragonborn, one of the books in Skyrim, but inside you’ll find vanilla cake and cannoli cream filling.

Unfortunately for bacongrease00 he won’t be able to stash even a crumb of the cake, because his wife made it for someone else. At least he got some karma out of it.

By now you’ve probably heard the theme song and seen the intro to Game of Thrones a thousand times. If you really enjoy it, you’re going to love this version of the intro for Skyrim.

Skyrim’s world layout and gameplay don’t have anything to do with George R. R. Martin’s epic books, but there are enough similarities to mash the two together into a neat new opening video called “Thrones.” Because why not? In fact, I would guess that more than half of Skyrim players have already read the books or watched the show. Check the intro out for yourself:

Skyrim fans will recognize recreations of each of the major game areas, portrayed as if they were the separate family-owned lands from Game of Thrones. Brady Wold, the creator of the video, says that it started off as a fun project to kill an afternoon, but soon turned into thousands of hours of work, using After Effects, Cinema 4D, Maya, Photoshop, Premiere, and ZBrush.

You may not be familiar with GeekGirlCon. It isn’t one of the biggest conventions, so that’s understandable. However, there are some amazing things happening there. Amazing and scary.

Punished Props attended in full Draugr Deathlord attire from Skyrim. Just look at these pics. The detail on the armor is just stunning.

If I saw these guys anywhere I would run away screaming and so would you. I have killed enough of these guys in the game, so I would immediately assume that they were there for some payback. Hence the running away like a little girl. I’m all tough when playing the game, but when these things enter real life, not so much. Man, these two look scary as hell.

Man at Arms: Reforged has journeyed into the fantasy world of Skyrim to forge a real world Dragonborn helmet. Even though they mostly forge weapons, a true smith does armor as well – and Baltimore Knife and Sword does just that. It’s not all about attacking after all. You have to protect your body parts too.

To demonstrate its effectiveness in combat they sliced a watermelon with a sword, and then tried to slice the helmet to show that it is a functional piece of armor. All it did was wreck the sword. Really wreck the sword.

The guy wearing it would live, although he would have a hell of a headache. Better then having your head slashed for sure. I would go into combat with this helmet myself, but I took an arrow to the knee.

Shortly after The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released, a group of fans started working on a massive addition for the game. It’s called Beyond Skyrim, an effort to add Tamriel’s other provinces to TES V: Skyrim. But it’s not just a geographical addition – Beyond Skyrim hopes to fill those provinces with new characters, items, quests and even music.

Here’s the group’s third anniversary trailer, which shows off their take on Cyrodiil, High Rock, Hammerfell and Roscrea:

Fast travel to the Beyond Skyrim forums to learn more about the project. If you want to contribute, the group is looking for all the help they can get – artists, level designers, voice actors etc. – but of course you’ll have to prove your skills first before they bring you in. A goal this ambitious certainly has the odds going against it, but as long as contributors are having fun then we can’t really fault them for trying can we?

Well, it’s Christmas Eve and anyone with kids knows what that means: children bouncing off the walls and waiting for Santa to come see them tonight. Santa is also coming to all the good girls and boy of Skyrim, specifically the NPC characters.

PC Gamer has made a Santa character who rides a big reindeer with a glowing red nose. You know the most famous reindeer of all. In the game Santa is called “Krys Krynn-Gul,” and he is using some magic like door unlocking spells to get access to NPC abodes and leave gifts behind.

Skyrim Claus says: “Next, I mull over my gift options. It would be in keeping with tradition to actually craft the presents, but I don’t want to spend hours standing at a forge, and I don’t have an army of unpaid elves to do it for me. So, I rush around to every store in Skyrim, buying the best in armor, weapons, clothing, potions, ingots, and jewelry. I also acquire some charcoal in case I come across anyone naughty. Naturally, to carry all this loot I need to increase my carryweight (‘player.setav carryweight 10000′ oughta do it).”

Skyrim mods can be awesome and there are a ton that have been created. Everything from Thomas the Tank Engine and Super Mario to Randy “Macho Man” Savage have found their way into the PC version of the game. These mods are all fun on their own, but when you put them all together it makes for one crazy and awesome game.

YouTuber Videogamedunkey has mashed all of the mods together in one crazy video. The result is simply hilarious. It doesn’t take long for things to get completely chaotic. Warning, the video is loaded with NSFW language:

Dunkey faces some crazy stuff here, but he knows it’s time to quit when he sees a giant crab wearing a top hat and monocle. That’s just too much.

How’s this for a possible Skyrim mod? Redditor Marcus Hynes aka sylpheed made a map of the region in the style of the London Tube map. There appear to be a few impractical routes – how is the blue-green line supposed to work? – but what the heck, this makes the Thomas the Tank Engine mod even more awesome.

I recently tried playing Skyrim again recently, but didn’t get very far. It just felt like the same old experience. This mod by Modder UniqueUses is called “Toon Skyrim” and this is just what I needed for the game to feel new and fresh again.

It’s a work in progress, but man, it looks awesome. Here’s what the maker has to say:

“I’m basically making my own potato texture mod, with an enb [a visual mod] and weather that goes with it to help hide that ugly lod [level of detail]… I like the potato texture style, but I think a lot of fixing up needs to be done for it to be playable. So I’m going to attempt to make things like signs and faces readable but still fit the potato style. For example, certain puzzles need to be seen, so I’m going to edit those.”

So he’s looking to use a mod that gives a new visual feel to the game but won’t do so much stuff that the game slows and suffers because of it. In fact, the simple textures actually speed up rendering quite a bit. It really looks great so far and I can’t wait to see it all finished.

You’ve been saving up those Nuka Cola caps, waiting for something cool to spend them on. It’s time to cash in with these cool new Fallout and Skyrim toys. Leave it to Funko to deliver some awesome toys for two of the best game franchises of all time.

These $20 action figures will be part of Funko’s “Legacy Collection” toys like their Firefly and Game of Thrones offerings, but this time the series is focused on Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

For starters, you can get the default Vault 101 “Lone Wanderer” and the Dovahkiin, and also the Power Armour worn by the Brotherhood of Steel, and the Daedric plate worn by Daedra Warriors. You won’t find many accessories here.

Dovahkiin is the only figure that has more than one accessory, but that’s fine with me since they all look so awesome. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting one of each.

Confession bear time: I’ve never played any Elder Scrolls game, mostly because I don’t enjoy open world games. Which means I don’t know how unusual the weapons in the series can get. Maybe there’s one made from balloons or whatever balloons are called in the games. But I like the design of the Keening dagger. And by that I mean I like this replica.

This replica was made by Bill Doran, who is not a replica Dwemer but a real artisan who is good at making props and costumes. Elder Scrolls fans know that the Keening first appeared in Morrowind, but Doran used its appearance in Skyrim as his guide. The hilt is made of plastic resin with bronze powder, while the crystalline blade – I call it the Heisenberg – was made from “Tap Plastic’s Clear-Lite resin with some green and blue transparent tint added.”

Doran said he the replica will be auctioned off at a Child’s Play event today, although I think that’s exactly what an evil High Priest would say if he’s messing with… with evil magics and stuff. I’ve run out of Elder Scrolls references. Go on, fast travel to Doran’s blog for more pictures and details on the process.

These days Christmas trees come in all shapes and sizes. For Skyrim fans, this life-sized Dragonborn Nord tree (actually a statue decorated like a tree) is all they need.

This crazy statue/tree comes from Redditor Lanarchy, who spends way too much time running around in Skyrim and needed more of it in real life. In the future they will say, “I used to decorate my Dragonborn tree every year. Until I took an arrow to the knee.”

This Skyrim tree is the perfect centerpiece for a geeky Christmas. The little Yoda on his shoulder is a nice touch, despite having nothing to do with The Elder Scrolls. Or does he?

Man, look at that armor. It would take me like 400 hours to find all of that stuff in the game, let alone in real life. Look at those swords. This cosplay rocks the world of Skyrim.

This full Daedric Armor suit was built and is worn by ZERIOS88 who is obviously a wizard at making this stuff. He is a hobbyist who likes to make fantasy video game armor and weapons.

This armor is really beautiful. I might be biased because I played so much Skyrim, but I think you will agree that it is pretty spectacular. And those weapons. This makes me want to play the game all over again.
